Best Performances 2005

DARTFORD
HARRIERS A.C. CLUB AWARDS.
Dartford Harriers A.C.'s Club Awards Presentation took place at their HQ at
Central Park Dartford on Saturday 15th July, with presentations for the best
athletes of 2005. Trophies were presented by Nancy Wightman, Dartford Borough
Deputy Sports Minister.
Megan Edwards (Under17) and Max Hall (U/20) were each double award winners, having achieved the best single performances and also the best field event performances. Megan jumped 11.53 in the triple jump, and was unbeaten in the league and county triple jump and was ranked No.11 in the UK. Max achieved a height of 4.10 in the pole vault, and put in many superb performances in the javelin, shot and discus last year. He also set a new Club decathlon record.
Elaine Murty was also a double winner, for the best track athlete and the best cross country runner. Peter Field and Arthur Kimber shared their trophies, as best male track athletes and best masters athletes. Peter, now in the M75 age group, won 60m hurdles gold (12.24) and 60m bronze at the British Masters Indoor Championships at Cardiff in February. At the World Masters Championships in San Sebastian in Spain, he was 4th in the 300m finals (55.07). Arthur, who is in the M65 age group, has not only set several Club Records, but is ranked UK 4th at both the 800m and the 1500m. At Eskilstuna, Sweden for the European Masters Indoors Champs in March, he won bronze in the 1500m (2:34.57) , followed in July by a 1500m silver (5:28.97) at the BMAF Championships at Birmingham.
Other awards for the "best" in each category: Andy Pickett - cross country; Madeleine Davey & Steve Game- road running; Sarah Foster- walking; Teresa May- masters athlete (female); Dawn Corbidge Anne Goad Teresa May Gill Skellon- best team (relay), Gill Skellon- Club woman of the year; Richard Drew- Club man of the year, Mark Powell (most dedicated athlete), Sam Coombes (Club cross country champion)
