Sunday 21st March saw the final Kent Cross Country of the winter season, held at Knoll Park, Sevenoaks. In what was a poor turn out for Dartford Harriers A.C., there were nevertheless some good individual performances on the very testing course. Rachel Ward, in the under 17 age group and Jayne Alexander in the under 20's, were placed 2nd overall for the four matches scoring 8 points, with a first, two seconds and a third place. Results for the Knoll Park match were:- under 13 Nicole Gibbs, 16th under 15 Hayley Hickmott 6th, Beverley Bennett 22nd, under 17 Rachel Ward 1st, Elaine Murty 5th, Helen Pinkess 8th; this was the only complete team on the day. Under 20 Jayne Alexander, Senior Women Sue Wiltshire 24th, Boys: under 13 Philip Butler 23rd, under 20 Gareth Evan 1st.

 

14th February 2004

The Senior Mens Cross Country season ended in glory on Saturday 14th February with Sam Coombes receiving the League Trophy for the best overall performances in the five winter meetings. He has placed 1st (Twice), 2nd and sixth.

Results for the Parkwood School Home fixture on Feb 14th were:

Sam Coombes 1st, Tim Orr 22nd, Stuart McQueen 37th, Tony Durey 41st, Martin Trowbridge 54th, Paul Hills 74th and Bob Coombes 93rd.

KENT CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, SEVENOAKS .............................................

Jo Roberts has come back from injury to win her third kent Championship Cross Country in succession. In Sevenoaks on Saturday 3rd January, she headed a gold medal winning Under 17 team from Dartford Harriers A.C.

Rachel Ward was 4th and Elaine Murty 8th, another club member, Megan edwards, was the overall winner of the Under 15 race, with Hayley Hickmott in 11th place and Beverley Bennet in 35th place. Elle Denton was 11th in the under 13's.

Boys results were: Under 13, Philip Butler 21st, Under 15 - Ian Vagg 37th, Under 17 - Michael Valentine 10th and David Heeley 20th, Under 20 - Michael Evans 17th.

Senior Men - Jason Marchant 60th, Tony Durey 63rd, Mark Powell 99th and Paul Hills 124th.

 

KENT FITNESS LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY ............................................................................

The league is for runners of all standars, and most clubs in Kent belong. You only have to turn up on the day to run!! Most race are about 5-6 miles and start at 11.00 a.m

MASTERS ATHLETES KENT VETS CROSS COUNTRY (06/12/03)....................................

The six mile course at Parkwood School provided plenty of mess and mud, with some steep hills. Dartford Harriers results were:-

M40: Tony Durey 16th - 35.48, Tim Orr 21st - 36.06, M50: Bob Coombes 36th - 47.21, M60: Arthur Kimber 8th - 43.15. Maureen Farmer was Dartford's sole entrant, finishing a shorter course of 3.5 miles as 9th (W45), in 28.45.

 

KENT LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY, DANSON PARK, BEXLEY ........................................

Dartford Harriers had a good representation on Saturday 29th November in the third of the Kent League Cross Country races at Danson Park, Bexley. Star of the day was Sam Coombes, winner of the Senior Mens race. Also heading their fields were Megan Edwards, 2nd in the U15's, Rachel ward 3rd in the U17's, Jayne Alexander 2nd in the U20's and Elle Denton 3rd in the U13's.

Other results; Senior men: Jason Marchant 38, Tim Orr 46, Tony Durey 52, Mark Powell 103, Paul Hills 104 and Bob Coombes 123. Under 17: Michael Valentine 8, Under 15:Ian Vagg 34.

Senior Women: Wendy Tester 26, Suzie Wiltshire 34, Maureen Farmer 44. Under 17: Elaine Murty 8, Under 15: Hayley Hickmott 8, Beverley Bennet 23, Victoria Hooper 38. Under 13: Bridie Edwards 26, Nicole Gibbs 28, Anne Julie Gibbs 32.
