SOUTHERN INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 20th/21st January 07. The Championships saw hundreds of top athletes from Southern England competing for the honours at the South of England Indoor track & field championships. Five members of Dartford Harriers A.C. competed breaking two club records, winning a bronze medal and setting some personal bests. Elaine Murty won the bronze in the Senior ladies 800m in a personal best 2:17.7, after running a heat in 2:18.9, and Senior man Andrew Pickett finished 5th in the 3000m, timing 8:43.3. Under 17 combined eventer Nadine Terry was again in club record breaking form in the 800m. She smashed her own club record, set two weeks ago, by running 2:24.9 in her heat for 2nd place. She placed 5th in the final in 2:25.6, and has now improved by nearly 6 seconds in a year. In the U/15's,Natalie Hickmott, last year's U/13 Kent sprint champion, did well to survive two rounds of the 200m. Suffering from a severe stomach bug, she nevertheless broke a long - standing club record in the heat, finishing 2nd in 27.83. She was 4th in the semi final in 27.93 missing out on the final by 0.01 of a second. Samantha Brown still only 12, put together a series of fine performances in the U/15 girls 60m sprints. Coming back from injury, she was 2nd in her heat in 8.54s., 3rd in the semi final in 8.48 and 6th in the final in 8.64.
